Kalkan
As a rich and vibrant resort on the Turkish Riviera, Kalkan has established an upmarket and elite reputation.
Once a quaint fishing village situated by a harbour at the foot of the Tauras mountains, the historic town of Kalkan has become an enchanting, chic and sophisticated resort in one of the most beautiful locations along Turkeys gorgeous Lycian coast & one which discerning holidaymakers return to year after year.

With the absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven of lush nature, with blue crystal seas, historic architecture, and warm traditional Turkish hospitality. Shaded lanes, scented with Jasmine lead down to the pretty harbour and beach. In the heart of the town sits an historic Old quarter, with an unrivalled choice of fine dining in historic buildings. Nestled on narrow cobbled streets, you will find authentic stone houses and shops with whitewashed walls, pretty painted window shutters, and balconies draped with beautiful displays of colourful Bougainvillaea.

The town provides for a wealth of amenities including banks, supermarkets, chemists & bakeries, intermingled with quaint coffee shops and bars. Kalkan remains green and lush even in the height of summer, with many beautiful and colourful flowers surrounding the quaint gift shops: selling clothes, bags, jewellery, antiques, oriental carpets and furnishings. There are many small traditional street cafes and relaxing bars with tables and chairs on the cobbled streets, a truly wonderful place to stroll and see a little of the town’s history at its best. The resort boasts a high percentage of return visitors, many captivated by the shear charm of this cosmopolitan town which retains its Turkishness with warm and welcoming locals.

After dusk, Kalkan fills with people meandering down the narrow lanes, browsing the boutiques & shops flowing towards the Harbour, Kalkan is famous for its many fine dining experiences, with superb views, sunsets & friendly attentive service. There are over 100 restaurants and bars, all created with unique charm and character. Many are set in old buildings and have open roof terraces, offering sunset and moonlit views across the harbour. Chefs are creative, and pride themselves on sourcing local ingredients wherever possible. There is an abundance of local organic fruit and vegetables, full of flavour and these form the basis of much of Kalkan’s cuisine along with fresh seafood, lamb, chicken and wild boar from the nearby hills.
With this much dedication and competition it’s hard to have a bad meal!

Just along the headland from Kalkan is the tranquil Kalamar Bay, renowned for its more peaceful atmosphere, it is the hidden gem on the Turkish Riviera. Kalamar is an ideal relaxing ‘Hide away’ that remains within walking distance of Kalkan town and provides the best of both worlds. A popular residential area, it is very quiet, very scenic and laid back, but has built its own selective following and is slowly becoming a destination in its own right. Kalamar bay hosts three popular Beach clubs within easy walking distance of Villa Honu.
